“the moon was lucent in the background”
I was honored when my good friend, Danielle (owner and designer for Elise Events— also team leader for Team Lucent) invited me to come and photograph the details from their showcase for the FRESHbash event!
p.s. They WON!
For those of you who don’t know, FRESHbash is a thoughtfully curated showcase of interactive, on-trend exhibitions meant to raise the creative bar & inspire the senses. It’s a feast for the eyes, an experience for the palette, and a competition amongst creatives (where YOU get to decide who really pushed the design-envelope). It’s a chance to mix and mingle with some of the best in the biz, and to show off those dance moves you’ve been practicing in front of the mirror (you know the ones we’re talking about.)
Inspired by the abounding hues of indigo stitched throughout the romantic island of Santorini, Greece, Team Lucent proudly presents a modern wedding installation. This airy and sophisticated design embraces the etherealness and luminosity of aerial travel. Soft organic elements, such as natural marble patterns, rich pigments, fluid lines, and free-forming floral arrangements, accent the clean lines of Team Lucent’s dynamic and collaborative design.
Design leader, Danielle Sammons of Elise Events, had a vision for bringing a mix of crisp modern style and warm natural elements together. Naturally, the combination formed a stylish and captivating wedding installation. With an exceptional level of attention to detail, Danielle enthusiastically pieced together ideas for each vignette utilizing various forms of inspiration, including those from her fellow teammates. Inspired by color, texture and movement, Danielle finds her creativity to be driven by soft hues, light, and natural surroundings.
Pastry chef and cake designer, Amanda Ngo of Paper Heart Patisserie, enthusiastically jumps at any opportunity to create unique and modern cakes. She aims to build a stronger bridge between desserts and contemporary art. Fueled by color and patterns, and anchored by sophistication and a bit of whimsy, Amanda loves incorporating multi-mediums, vibrant hues, and metallics to her designs. Amanda describes herself as a very “non-competitive” individual, but her partnership in Team Lucent was a great place to challenge herself to bring her creativity to a new level.
Calligrapher and artist, Vita Popov of Pop Calligraphy, is defined by her romantic yet minimalistic style. Always thinking out-of-the-box, Vita eagerly accepted Team Lucent’s direction towards more novel and creative trend approaches. Her knack for bringing out the beauty of understated sophistication through the use of her hand-dyed papers, artwork, and calligraphy was an integral part of the team. Since the beginnings of Pop Calligraphy, Vita has been decorating homes and nurseries with her writings. Filled with passion and excitement, she is ready to leap into the wedding industry. Her role in Team Lucent is a huge step towards this dream.
Floral designer, Angie Tomey of Little Boy Flowers, is known for her amazing arrangements and designs. Her art practically embodies Mother Nature, herself! Angie’s vast botanical knowledge and expertise was simply refreshing and the perfect organic compliment to the installation’s ultra modern design roots. Angie loves nothing more than heading out into the fields and forests, neighborhoods and orchards and gathering materials for her designs. Creating beautiful things from the natural world around her is the root of her style, the perfect compliment to Team Lucent’s design.
