/ Mother’s Day /
A celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
First, I’d like to say that I love who I am and I can thank my mom for that. She carries a silent strength that becomes noticeable when necessary. It’s her secret weapon. She is a fighter and a warrior in her own way. Not many people know why, but I do, and I can promise you she is made of that stuff we’d all like a bit of. Thank you Mom for all that I am and all that you are.
I’ve recently worked on some projects for Mother’s Day and in the celebration of working Mother’s. One photo shoot and two videos below!
I’ve come to place in my life where I’m starting to finally let go of the guilt that can come along with doing both NOT SO WELL (working and being a mom). When asked how she does it all, assuming she does it all well, Shonda Rhimes recently admitted that she doesn’t. That in fact she can’t be everywhere at the same time succeeding at both. If she is with her daughters watching them swim for the first time, she’s not at work watching one of the main characters on her show (Grey’s Anatomy) perform her final performance. There’s a trade off she said. But she’d rather teach her daughters what’s real, and to do their best… to be honest with where they are right now. I love her honesty here.
I too will do my best and that’s what you get. I will be where I can, give what I can when I can, and while I can. And I do this for myself because I know what my kids really want is for me to be happy, authentic and in my flow. And that’s what I also want for them.
My work is my form of prayer. It’s a part of my soul and my authentic flow. It also provides for my family. What a blessing and one I don’t take for granted. Cheers to the following women who also allow themselves to enter both worlds and do it with forgiveness and grace.
The Ladies of Swoon, A Bridal Salon and their kids!
This video is honoring a working mom who seems to manage her time with work and her family well, including time for herself! Her husband and boys definitely appreciate her and they wanted to show her that even though Dad might not handle the day like she does, he’s got it and she can leave every now and then without worry! Bravo to this Dad for wanting to surprise his wife on Mother’s Day in such a sweet way.
And finally… the following video was so special for me to deliver on Mother’s Day to a very dear friend. You see, she was becoming a first time mom and wanted to document the birth of their son, Grant, but sadly her father was also in the hospital at that time. He wasn’t doing well, and actually we were just hoping he would make it to meet his grandson. Well, with the help of the staff at Renown and Grant’s Pediatrician,Tammy Roesler, M.D. with Pinecone Pediatrics, he met his grandson and it was one of the most beautiful and saddest moments I’ve ever captured. Happy Mother’s day to this very strong woman who I admire to no end, and to her Mother. You will understand the song choice once you’ve gotten towards the end.
Happy Mother’s Day! I feel so blessed that I can preserve these moments for mothers and for all!
